Bare boards in. Finished assemblies out.
ChipOnBoard cc is an ISO 9001 accredited electronic contract manufacturer, building PCB assemblies from one-off prototypes through to mixed-technology small and medium volume production runs.
Built on the assembly floor, not the boardroom.
ChipOnBoard was established in December 2007, starting out with manual SMT and through-hole assembly. That same year we acquired surface mount placement equipment, allowing us to take on the demanding and fast-moving SMT side of the electronics industry alongside our existing capability.
We're based in New Germany, Pinetown — in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal's industrial belt — and work with customers across South Africa who need a contract manufacturer that can move from a handful of prototype boards to a production run without changing partners.
One assembly partner, start to finish
From a single prototype board to a mixed-technology production batch, the process stays under one roof.
Surface mount assembly
Placement and reflow of surface mount components for boards that need speed, density and repeatability.
Through-hole assembly
Manual and wave-soldered through-hole assembly for connectors, power components and legacy designs.
Mixed technology builds
SMT and THT combined on a single board, sequenced and soldered to suit the design, not the other way round.
Prototype runs
Small first-article builds to prove out a design before committing to a full production run.
Small & medium runs
Repeat production batches sized for South African manufacturers, without the minimums of an offshore line.
Inspection & testing
Visual and functional checks built into the process, so what ships is what was specified.
The short spec sheet
The essentials, laid out the way you'd want them on a component datasheet.
How a board moves through the line
Send us the design
Share your BOM, schematics and bare boards — or your gerbers if we're sourcing the PCB too.
Quote & sign-off
We confirm components, process and lead time before anything goes near the line.
SMT / THT assembly
Boards are populated using the placement and soldering method the design calls for.
Inspection & testing
Each batch is checked against the build spec before it's signed off.
Delivery
Finished assemblies are packed and shipped, ready to go into your product.
Quality isn't a final inspection step — it's built into how every board moves through the workshop, from incoming components to the finished assembly.
